ClaveMania was an original music project that merged the deep-rooted traditions of Latin America with a contemporary jazz lens and an exploration of complex rhythmic structures. Led by Jonathan Cohen and Elizabeth Obando, the project served as a collaborative platform where compositions traversed the vast musical heritage of the continent.
The ensemble skillfully navigated a broad palette of genres—including Cuban Timba and Mambo, Salsa, Argentinian Tango, and Afro-Peruvian Festejo. These styles were cross-pollinated with both traditional and experimental elements of Latin Jazz, recontextualizing global musical influences into a unique, cohesive sound.
